read.surf (“we”, “us”) is a reading and vocabulary application that turns photos of book pages into a cheatsheet of unknown words and lets you collect quotes. read.surf is operated by an individual based in Ukraine. This policy explains what we collect and how we use it.

What we collect

• Account data — your email address, via sign-in (Supabase Auth / Google sign-in).
• Content you create — photos of pages you scan, the recognized text, the words, idioms and quotes you save, and your reading progress.
• Usage data — the number of scans you make per month (to apply plan limits).
• Payment data — handled entirely by our payment provider (see below). We never see or store your card details.

How we use it

• To recognize text on your photos and provide translations and learning aids.
• To store your personal library and sync it across your devices.
• To manage your subscription, plan and monthly scan limits.

Third-party processors

To provide the service we share the minimum necessary data with:

• Google Cloud Vision — your page photo is sent for optical character recognition (OCR). See Google Privacy Policy.
• OpenAI — recognized text is sent to generate translations and structure. See OpenAI Privacy Policy.
• Supabase — authentication and database hosting for your account and library. See Supabase Privacy Policy.
• Creem — our Merchant of Record; processes payments and handles billing/tax. See Creem Privacy Policy.

Data retention & your choices

• Your content is kept until you delete it (the app provides “clear data” controls) or stop using the service.
• You can request access to, or deletion of, your data by contacting us.
• Signing out clears your data from that device.

Children

read.surf is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age in your country).

Changes

We may update this policy; the “last updated” date will change accordingly.
